What Disney Says?
Star War takes over this classic thrilling rollercoaster adventure. The iconic centrepiece of Discoveryland houses a thrilling rollercoaster and this version in the Paris park is the first and only space mountain attraction with an inversion.
Previous versions of this ride include Space Mountain: Mission 2 and Space Mountain: De la Terre.
Tim’s ThoughtsWhile I really like this ride, lets’ make no bones about it I do not like the Star Wars overlay… This version of Space Mountain is a beautiful styled inside and out in keeping with the Jules Vern theming which Paris’ Discoveryland is based. Star Wars simply does not fit in with the aesthetic. The Star Wars overlay is just a cheap way of crowbarring the popular franchise into Disneyland. Currently this still looks like a temporary overlay with simple posters in the queue line and screen based effects on the rides itself. Hopefully this will mean that a Jules Vern themed Space Mountain will return. Ignoring the overlay the ride is still fantastic, a modern version of the classic attraction. The onboard audio really adds to the ride. |
