The very popular Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast located in Discoveryland at the Disneyland park will close on 6th January 2020 for a lengthy refurbishment. The attraction is planned to be closed until 31st July, nearly seven months in total.
This will include refurbishment of the interior, building exterior, show scenes and ride vehicles. No major changes to the ride are expected at this time.
If you purchase Super or Ultimate Fastpass then Flying Carpets Over Agrabah in the Studios park will replace Laser Blast.
Tim’s Thoughts
Laser Blast uses an continuously moving ‘omnimover’ ride system so thousands of guests can enjoy the attraction each hour of every day. Each guest constantly spins the ride vehicle, while bashing the trigger on the gun. There’s also lots of moving parts in the ride scenes, so I am not surprised this attraction is in need of refurbishment. I am surprised how long this is going to take, nearly 7 months. In regards to the paid Fastpass replacement I don’t think Flying Carpets is really a good replacement for the Super and Ultimate Fastpass, so you might want to consider this when purchasing these.
