As part of the Walt Disney Studios park, multi year regeneration it was announce that the now closed Studio Tram Tour would be reimagineered into “Cars Route 66”

The Tram Tour closed in January this year and the entrance and queue area will be dismantled to create a new boulevard with access to the new lake area (currently estimated to open in 2023).

Cars Route 66 will be a much shorter experience as you will join Lightning McQueen and Mater on a journey along the world-famous Route 66. The Catastrophe Canyon section of the tram tour will feature with a “Cars” retheme at some point in your journey.

The entrance for Cars Route 66 will be located behind Toy Story Playland.

This project is expected to be a lower budget attraction and we are not expecting highly detailed scenes or animatronics. The planned transformation was originally expected to take around 6 months opening this summer, although this may have changed now. From the look of the concept art, this show the Catastrophe Canyon scene will remain very similar but the fuel truck is painted in DINOCO blue.

I have been a huge Disney Parks fan since my first Walt Disney World trip at the age of 11. I now follow activities and news on all the parks across the world. I actually didn't visit Disneyland Paris until 2017, thinking it was the poor relation to the other Parks, how wrong could I be! Disneyland Paris a beautiful park and is somewhere everyone should experience.
